Dry Stack Vineyard is located in the cool Bennett Valley appellation, just south and east of the city of Santa Rosa. The parcel is a total of 50 acres; approximately 23 acres are planted to grapes. It is a major access point for cool marine air from the Petaluma Valley, categorizing the area as a cool region III. The Vineyard was purchased by the Young family in 1998. After ripping out the old vineyard, proper soil amendments were applied and cross ripping was performed. In the summer of 2001 the 23 acres were planted on 5’ x 7’ spacing. The soil series present are the Goulding Clay Loam and Toomes Rocky Loam, with Goulding Clay Loam being the predominate series. Slopes in the Vineyard range from 5 to 75%, there is not one ”flat” parcel in the vineyard. The elevation of the vineyard ranges from 500 to 750 ft.
