The 21 Year Old is produced in small, bespoke batches. Each cask is nosed and approved, making every batch unique. A sizable inventory of whisky of this age is extremely rare and only the best are selected for this expression. The complex combination of cask types imparts richness, intensity and a long finish to the whisky.
The Glenlivet has been distilled for pleasure since 1824. Our founder, George Smith, believed whisky as the ultimate pleasure should be made unhurried, as time and care created the highest quality and flavoursome product. George’s innovative thinking, technique and the best ingredients created a whisky that set the standard for the region of Speyside.

Whiskey Advocate 92 points - This expression is reputed to contain some whisky up to 40 years old and was matured in a mix of bourbon and sherry casks. The nose offers overt sherry influences, with fruit malt loaf, maple syrup, honey, and old leather. Full and slightly oily on the rich palate, with toffee, raisins, Brazil nuts, and fresh cake mix. Dusty spices and oak in the relatively dry finish. Reviewed by: Gavin Smith (Summer 2018)  (Jul 2018)

Ultimate Beverage Challenge 97 points - Dried cherries and apricots intermix with caramel on the slightly smoked nose. It is rich and spicy in the mouth with dark notes of coffee, chocolate and caramel flavors. The mouthfeel is smooth and coating. Rich and complex.  (Apr 2014)

Wine Enthusiast 96 points - Opening bouquet offers sedate fragrances of dried flowers and malted barley; aeration stimulates marginally bigger aromas of dried yellow fruit (baked banana), toasty oak barrel and still-vigorous spirit. Palate entry is succulent, honeyed and luscious; midpalate tastes of dates, figs, S’mores, cocoa butter, nougat and dark fudge. Finishes oily, buttery, honey-sweet and focused. — P.P.
